Hi Ray, should be able to forward some photos of the whole process soon. We built the pond with hollow blocks and formed a solid concrete lintle that combines the sides and base, in effect a concrete frame. When we put the first scratch coat of render on we left a lip of 15mm to allow for a ledge for the glass. the glass is 100cm x 70cm, actual veiwing is 90cm x 60cm, the fixer we are using is adseal, a rubber waterproof sealer, we have 15mm toughened glass which was an absolute nightmare to find, stay in touch,

sounds really good are you not worried that the render will come away from the block work under pressure?

danny boy - the blocks are reinforced with metal bars and concrete, any hollows not fill will have polestyrene balls in for added insulation, the first scratch coat of render is just basic, then we're doing 2 coats of render containing fibrin, tiny fibres that apparently stop cracking. ( we'll see ). the outer of the block has a 25mm polestyrene insulation and the foundations are built on 50mm insulation. I'm hoping with all research we havent missed anything.
Ray - the whole thing is 3m x 2m, 3m depth. only 2m x 2m is for my tropical, the other small area is for my ever growing assorted goldfish,
