I dont see why not assuming new tank is the same size or smaller. If bigger i would think that you may want to consider putting the additional water in first and settling it, adding some water from your exsisting tank to get it on its way and stable. Then just transfer every thing. I will say this, I'm not experienced and I'm only telling you as a logical thought process and not from experience. Best wait and see if mighty Alan answers you or one of the other kings!!! |

Whats the size change going to be?
Personally I would tranfer everything across water as well and then top up with new water it will just be like a big water change.
Are you filtering with just live rock?
Providing you do not increase the bio load the live rock and any other filteras you have will manage but remember to increase the amount of live rock if needed to at least 1 kilo for every 2 imp gallons.
If you have a skimmer is it going to have enough umph to cope with the bigger tank don't forget boosting circulation to it may be a good time to replace old equipment to and sort out any annoying problems you had with the other tank. |
