Hello there!
I did a 3 year honours degree in marine biology. It covers lots of different topics. For example my first year I did subjects such as genetics, microbiology, statistics, then second year marine ecosystems and more detail about the marine organisms themselves. Final year was all about human impacts on the marine environment, you do your own research project. The first year is far more broad than the others which gives u the chance to swap courses if you aren't happy. I hope that helps! |

the marine genetics studies sound really interesting. it would be great to apply that knowledge to lake malawi cichlids seeing the local variance on closely related species - so much to learn, so little time. |

Indeed!
But unfortunately most marine biology degrees do not have an emphasis on aquariums and associated fish. Is is all dolphins and whales much to my dismay! |

Find out from each Uni you intend to apply to, all courses (even if they are the same subject) vary from one place to another... sometimes minor differences, but other times the degree can be the same but be very different in what you do. |
