Hi I am currently looking to get a 5.5x2x2 with an Arowana and Ray eventualy. I just cant decide between a 3' sump with a wet/dry trickle or the new Eheim bad boy?
I will proberbly only ever have a few fish in the tank Arowana, 1 or 2 Rays, Flag Tail Fei Feng & maybe some sort of plec.
I think the sump is better and can accomodate equiptment but the eheim is alot easier to plum in. Both will cost about the same.
What would you go for and why?
Thanks in advance hope you guys are can make my mind up, and "FINALLY GET THIS TANK ORDERED"!!!!
The advantage with a sump with a trickle filter is firstly the fact the trickle filters are far more efficient than canisters secondly all the equipment can be hidden in side the sump its less for the ray or arowana for that matter to injure themselves on.
I would suggest with keeping a ray you put a pump a bit like a tunze stream in there the seio is the cheap option and will do the job. The fish you want to keep will really appreciate this plus you won't get any dead spots in the tank.
If you are going to keep rays forget the plec. They can inflict serious wounds on rays as they have a tendency to feed on the rays mucus membrane leaving them open to infection.
