Posted	Adding powder blues
07-03-2006 20:05 by johnlakehouse	when my tank is fully matured and the water is ok can i put a powder blue in straight away or shoul di wait a while for .. some people say wait for the tank to mature more beofre addding larger fish is this true

08-03-2006 08:33 by yanton	I would recommend you put the powder blue in almost last - they can be extremely territorial and make life very hard for fish later added. I would wait for other fish to settle in and gain their territories before adding a powder blue tang.
08-03-2006 09:19 by Alan	Also I would only keep a powder blue if there is plenty of live rock in the tank for them to spend the whole day grazing also provide nori regularly as well as meaty foods. I do agree with yanton the powder blue should go in last as they are extremely teritorial. I would suggest some easy going tankmates as well to keep it simple. Coral beauty Fridmani basslet (not the strawberry gramma) neon gobies pyjama wrasse Tomato or percula clowns go for a pair. If you have plenty of live rock you could also try a mandarin. The only challenging fish here is the mandarin. I would then concentrate on building up the invert population hermit snails shrimps polyps and corals and the like.
