i've just bought a ro filter system with a di filter on it and would like to know what is the best way to prepare the water ready for a water change

All you need to do is mix it with the salt in a huge bucket chuck a water pump in to stir the water up or an airstone with a huge air pump and once all the salt is disolved away you go.

There are a number of way to raise the temperature some people use a heater I just put RO water in the kettle and boil it an pour this water in to the container until I have roughly the same temperature.

Check the salinity before doing the water change to it should be the same as the tank. Or at least very close.

Also check the salinity using a refractometer these are more accurate at varying temperatures than hydrometers.
