Please whaat can this be? looks like something is destroying her scales...doesnt look like grain of salt. History@
we are cycling the new tank right now with 4 damsels and her. The ammonia and nitrite are in check still in this tank(its 1 week old). I am prepared to treat tank with nitrifying bacteria(product called Cycle) but the ammonia is still at 0 so i dont know what caused this illness...unless she came with it, its possible. I had a similar problem with an orchid dotty back a few years back before a fluval disaster struck.
I don't think it is white spot can you describe the filtration on the tank is it live rock based? If so I doubt you will get the typical ammonia and nitrite spike with cured live rock it simply does not happen as you are putting a mature filter straight on the tank in effect.
Any way back to the doty back in my case it was down to an unstable ph I used kent marine salt at the time this mixes to a ph of about 8 which is to low I now use reef crystals and I have to say I have used TMC pro reef and found this to be better than the reef crystals I will be going back to the pro reef once I have finished the bucket of reef crystals the difference it makes is amazing. The reef crystals are far better than the kent though.
I suspect over night you ph may be dropping below 8. This will be the cause. |
