18-03-2006 21:15 by fagans	Our marine aquarium has been going for about 8 weeks, live rocks has een in there for about 4 weeks, and I have four fish in in. The live rock is going through the brown algea stage and red patches are starting to appear, will it all go red in the end, or stay brown? I have also added a phrosphate package in the filter..

19-03-2006 10:07 by yanton	fagans, as you say, it is a brown algae stage, better algae tend to take over later (in my own experience). on the point about the quality of live rock, you pay for what you get. if the retailer stores it under strong light (with extra costs for hime) then you will have better quality live rock, at a higher price. most retailers store the rock in large vats, without much light and so minimal good algea growth.
