read the debate over fx5 and eheim and going to go eheim due to better engineering and spare part availability in later years, the question now is which one?
Its either Pro 2 2128 (thermo) or the wet/dry equivalent 2329 (thermo) which would you guys recommend for a 5ft community tropical?

dont know much about either model, but have you seen the eheim 2250, seems like a descent filter. have seen that debate myself about the fluval fx5 Vs eheim and I have still just ordered the fx5 yesterday. I have always used both fluval and eheim, and to be honest there as good as each other, they will both break if heavy handed. at the moment I am using 2 eheims, the ecco 2233 and the eheim 2215, I have no problem with either of them, only thing I dont like is on the 2215, those stupid little metal clips that hold the lid and canister together, in the past they have gone on me. heard the fx5 in action the other day, and I thought for the size of this beast, it was reasonsbly quiet. thats my oppinion.

ps.one thing i can honestly say is that the fluvals that i have seen compared to the eheims that i have seen, seem to have more secure fittings. I have only just started keeping fish again, and it was 3 years or so before that, that i last kept fish, so i would imagine both fluval and eheim have improved greatly on there filters.

tony, hope you like the fluval fx5 as much as i do. honestly it is the best external filter i have purchased.
