Well like i said in the "Sand" thread, i washed my gravel in the bath and blocked the pipes up!
and i can name but a billion more!
The best rescue attempt was rescueing a clown loach out of a piece of wood that was decor in the tank. He panicked and hit tusks on either side of his mouth came out and got stuck in the wood. Me and the ex-landlord stood over the tank witht he wood above the water, loach hanging mid air breaking the wood to pieces with knifes and grips...
I did like that piece of wood, but had to throw away after... |

My clown loaches used to go missing for weeks at a time, i had a smaller tnk then with a juwel internal filter that eventually came away from the back of the tank, as i just had things like platies and peaceful fish i didn't bother to stick it back in and found it much easier to clean the filter by lifting the whole thing out of the tank. Anyway, i took the filter into the kitchen to clean the sponges in the bucket, put the filter casing in the sink, with no water in it, it was in there about 10 mins and then i put the sponges back in only to find my 2 clown loaches sat at the bottom! they were getting in through a tiny hole in the side and quite happily living in there. |

Hello, the stupidest thing I ever did with fish was climbing on my fish house roof to repair it,and falling through it to impale myself on a tank full of Discus. |

um some of my stupid mistakes are leaving heaters plugged in and smashing them when i have put water back in or mealting the plastic guards. I also put my first tank (a mere 18x6x6") down onto the nozel on the hose. |

Its black gravel. Bought it from the shop around the corner. She had it in display and it looked really nice!
Has its advantages too,
1. It looks nice
2. You cant see any mess easily
3. So much easier to clean!!!
The bad points is that the clarius isnt happy cause he cant go for a dig anymore...

To many painful memories normally involve synos impailing their fins on my hands when I'm fiddling with the tank and I stupidly get to close.
And yesterday whilst sorting a coral frag that I got from Garry I nearly squashed a bristle worm with my thumb.
Numerous electric shocks when I used to use T8 lighting on my marine tank nearly skinned my arm once I grazed the whole inside of my arm on a bracing bar the electric shock sent my arm in to spasm and bobs your uncle I pull my arm out as fast as I can whilst in spasm and I grazed my whole fore arm quite badly there is nothing quite like salt in the wound with blood every where I don't think the fish minded the extra nutrition gained courtesy of the blood in the tank!
On the fish front when I was a kid I was having problems with a rosy barb terrorising a communtiy tank so I briefly put the barb in another tank whilst I worked out where to put it, I forgot there was a shovelnose in the tank I put it in.
I was attacked by an Oscar once to. When I took my first steps towards marine keeping I had to rehome a couple of oscars and whilst in the shop one decided to give me a parting gift. Imagine this you have a clear bag of the sort used normally for Koi holding the bag against my stomach because it is pretty d@mn heavy. I watched as the Oscar become more and more annoyed and all of a sudden it launched an attach on my stomach ripping a hole in the bag actually hurting me and getting me soaked in the middle of a shop, you should have seen the staff laughing!
Oh yes this was a good one my mate decided he wanted to keep a piranha so we go to the shop the bloke says I'll triple bag it just in case well anyway 10 bags later no leaks half way home heading up the A23 the flipping thing bits an almighty hole in the bag in an escape bid so I end up doing an impersonation of Stirling Moss whilst my mate is juggling with a psycho piranha! Amazingly we all survived unscathed including the fish despite its best attempts car is soaked in the process though. |

neither it was a dwarf lionfish their not as potant as the big fella's !! at first it was like a wasp sting, i put it in as hot water as quick as possible but then it just seamed to get worse and worse kept in the hot water for about 50mins and it seamed to lay off a bit, but i could still feel where i got stung for a week |
