Resistant strains of Whitespot |

I seem to have a resistant strain of whitespot in my malawis tank. I treat it with protozin, but it just wont go away.
the fish are healthy besides that, and it is not a major problem, just some flicking and scrathing.
wondered if any of you have come across any more stubborn strains of whitespot.
secondly, as said, i use protozin.
what do you all use for whitespot? |

I use a product called Rid-Ich. Works well for me if i ever have a problem. Don't forget to raise the temperature in the tank to speed up the parasites cycle.

ive got something similar to this. Last week my loaches died due to a lack of airation. One loach was on the brink of following the light, but he pulled through.
SO ever since my one loach has a white stripe on his side and his eyes are sunken in. Ive been using PIMAFIX. Ive been using this for over a week and still no luck for getting rid of these marks on him.
He is the only one infected. PLEASE ANY IDEAS?
Furthermore ive got five more loaches coming tomorrow, think it might be wise to keep the new loaches seperate till the other one is better? |

Forget the protozin it just isn't strong enough I have given up on water life treatments.
I have now started using Sera remedies for a start they state exactly what the composition is so if you have a good book you can work out a safe max dose to really nail white spot and other parasites.
WS3 is good as well have had good results with whitespot with this remedy. |

hi i have found that there is def a hardier strain of white spot knocking around, iv had great success actually using a pond treatment 4 ponds called ulcerkit by nishikoi. You could also try giving your malawis a salt bath and maybe even thinking about puttin a uv sterilizor on ur system as u can pick 1 up 4 a 200l tank foe about £25ish |

Just brought and fixed up a vectron uv unit, so hopefully that will knock out the whitespot once and for all. |

amazingly, i only put the vectron uv unit on last night (tuesday) and by this morning, the whitespot has already gone, no flicking or itching - talk about quick work - 12 hours. |

Nice one yanton, I still can't work out why more people don't try this. I would still leave it running for another couple of weeks, just to be sure. |
