my breeding pair, share a tank with breeding group of 5 Brichardi

Just noticed that there are about 15-20 fry in a big flower pot (a big one that is "upside down" and only has an entrance that is about 4cm x 4cm I made this hole in it) anyway hard to explain the flower pot situation!!!!

BUT.... the fry look about 2-3 weeks old by their size and there are a couople in there that about 1cm to 1.5 cm so they must be 6-8 weeks old? Anyway. they never come out the pot and wondering how they manage for food?

I am tempted to try and somehow get some food in there, but they obviously have survived thus far.

The Brichardi "run" the tank but never cause grief to the Julie's, do you think the Julie's are keeping their fry always in the pot coz of the Brichardi????

I take it the Julie parents are smart enough to not allow their fry to starve to death???

Advice welcomed here.

i wouldnt worry too much about them as fry wil always filter particles of food thru the water as well as absorbin minerals n vitamins thru their body!!

your juli parents probably spit out food directly to the fry.

Lexter - the first part of anna's reply is correct, at this age they will pick up bits of food that are drifting around. The second part however is not, all fish can only be sustained by what passes through thier mouths.
As for yanton's comment, I have no exeprience of this happening and to be honest, have never heard of it with fish.

As the fry get a little larger you could try using a piece of drainpipe or something similar and position it so it goes into the hole in the flowerpot. You can then drop small pieces of food (algae wafers are good for this) down the pipe straight into the pot, without the other fish getting to it first
