both types of clownfish ?? |

hi there i understand both type of clownfish are actually the same but some fish shop i go to .. they have bigger clownfish .. will the small ones get to this size after time |

It depends on the species - there are lots of species available - regularly at least 10 are available I would say. Some are large like tomato and maroon clowns (4-6") while others are smaller. They also have different temprements according to the species
So look into the individual species you are going to buy and find out the adult size.
Most clowns you see will be young and will grow. But to what size depends on the species. |

Then yes the small percula's will grow provided they have good contitions. Males stay quite small, about 2" while females will get almost double. This regardless of whether they are Black or orange.
Do remember that most Percula's you see are not actually Amphiprion percula but Amphiprion ocellaris - the false percula, it is not particularly useful as they have the same requirements, but it is nice to know what fish you have. |

A lot of scientists/taxonomists are now saying that amphiprion percula/ocellaris are the same fish, just showing minor regional colour differences... the only difference is those sold as percula's have a more distinct black band around the fins & tend to be a bit redder. |
