hi peps anyone got any idea what is wrong with our lionfish. Over the last 2 days i noticed that our volitan has what appears to be a whiteskin slowly covering his eyes, myself and acidburn have added a uv sterilizer in the last couple of days (will this cure the problem) my brov has said it could be a parisite, how can i best treat the fish (dont have a sick bay tank) plus there are inverts in the tank .. |

you can get medication for invert tanks .. the uv will not cure it it will redcue the the problem happeneing again |

No its a bacterial infection, usually due to high nitrite/nitrates... (I manage an aquatic shop & I have had this before). Lions are naturallt very resistant to parasitic infections like whitespot etc. I would suggest a 10% water change followed by a course of Waterlife Myxazin or Aqua Medic anti bacterial treatment or API Melafix. Myxazin is probably the best.
