Hey people, I bought a pair of Kribs on Saturday, male and female as that was what i was advised to do plus i hoped in the long run they would breed, when i got hope i popped them in a 2foot aquarium of their own and on monday afternoon the female laid eggs inside a small cave in the tank. So, basically anyone have any tips on what i should do now? eg raising fry, spliting parents, foods, temperatures, do's and don'ts etc. Anything will be appricated. Cheers
I would leave fry with parents as long as possible, at least till the parents look like they are getting annoyed by fry, then move them to a grow out tank. Once the fry are free swimming feed them baby brine shrimp or a high quality powdered food (ZM do an excellent quality fry food). I only split parents if one turns violent or if they are mouthbrooders (give the female a chance to re-fuel. Feed fry a few times a day with regular water changes for good growth.
i have breed mine out in a 3ft tank. never eremoved anyone and all are living happily. didnt loose a single fry. the father and mother were very good, cant see them trying to eat the fry consideing how protective they are
