we got ours at about 2 inches and they had good colour, they're about 10 inches now

the female goes completely white before laying eggs though

they get their colour very small, around the 1.5 to 2" size, the only natural colour (if you can call it that as they are a crossbreed anyway) is an orangey red. Almost all the others like the greens, pinks etc are dyed and lose their colour very quickly as they get bigger.

Mine have had babies, the thread i started ''half a fish'' is one of their offspring. Some of the males are very fertile

Maybe they will, you never know.

Mine are about 8" though they did breed when much smaller
