hi all love this site but i am new at keeping fish. i got a ViaAqua ar380 two weeks ago and on the advice of the pet shop i filled and filtered the tank for a week before buying the fish. this done i purchased 3 black fish and 2 gold fish on saturday. the pet shop sold me Nutra fin biological supplement and aquaplus water conditioner ,"£12 each", Done all but now i find that the water in my tank is very cloudy. The fish seem happy and they are only being fes twice a day ( small pinch ). What next but please remember i am brand new at this so please be patient... |

A bacteria bloom is good, it means your filter is starting to work.... I usually do a 25% water change when that happens and in a couple of days it should clear. what fish do you have and what size is your tank? |

good luck milo, but i think it wasnt enough time elapsed and you probably put too many fish in at once in a small tank like that, i bet you have an ammonia or nitrite problem now, keep an eye on your fish or get the water tested |

thanks all i replaced about 2 gallons of the water with 10 pints of cold and 6 pints of tap hot water and cut down on the feed to once a day. thankfully the water has cleared and the fish seem delighted
is there anywhere were i can get a photo guide of coldwater fish? |
