Anyone with experience of breeding these fish please advise..

i started off with 6 of them in my tank, sharing with Brichardi.

Eventually one by one, they were bullied by the other Julidochromis Marleiri and then asa result of straying into the Brichardi territory would get grief there as well, so one by one i had to move them into other tanks.

Then left with two still sharing with the Brichardi, and they looked an obvious "pair". The have bred and there are now 10-odd fry in a flower pot of different sizes, some definitly look older than others. I know Julidochromis Marleiri are known for producing small amounts of fry when they spawn.

Anyway, last night i had to take out what i think is the male of the pair because he become "targeted" by his partner and then the Brichardi.

SUB-POINT - as soon as a Julie gets chucked out of the group the Brichardi join in as well almost acting like a "team" to aid the cheif Julidochromis!!!

Anyway, fry still in pot, but i have gone from 6 Juli to 1 now, and am wondering when to re intoroduce some of the other Juli back to the main tank?

This fish can be very stubborn and i am wondering if they will ever live in harmony, i could just let the remianing one bring up the fry but i want more breeding action.

To keep your pair of Julies happy they really should be in a tank of their own,you can disturb the territory boundaries by rearanging the tank and this may work short term but the Brichardi will soon be hyper dominant,I have seen them act in concert to attack anything that is stressed, the reason for your Julies to fall out could be that he wants to spawn but she does not, possibly because of the Brichardi, she will play no part in the rearing of the fry now, they are on their own and would be better off in a seperate tank,I doubt that the Julie pair will accept any other of their kind in the tank,in a really big setup you might get away with it.Harmony and rift cichlids is a very difficult thing to achieve, aggro is always waiting to happen.
