That's a whole bunch of bad luck my friend.New tankmate? The clown loach lady has tried everything including feng shui and seems to be getting results at last. You might want to target a thread at her specifically.Something like HELP ME CLOWNLOACHLADY should do the trick! |

hi gordon
whitespot is a pain if you get it
if you have any carbon in your tank remove it while you are treating use ws3 or any other strong medication try to find out whats causing it to happen in the first place if you are still getting no joy then if you have a external filter put a uv l;ight on it as this kills all the germs in you tank including whitespot and you will never have to dose again dead simple to get rid of a worked in a aquatics shop for years trust me put a uvc on it and anything free swimming will DIE !!!!!UVC IS NOT JUST FOR MARINE |

Increase the temp to about 86 degrees farenheight the white spot won't survive at this higher temp but your discus will. |

Heros hero is right ...
My fish has had whitespot for touching three weeks and alls gone now.
I had an earlier thread telling what ive done, but i did the following:
1. Remove carbon filters
2. TCP (three drops a day)
3. Lower the water in your tank, pull the flow pipes above water (creating more o2)
4. LEAVE UR LIGHTS OFF!!!!
5. i used eSHa 2000 and EXIT
6. three airstones. one on ground level, one mil level and one top level.
7. Take all ornaments, plants out as u can monitor fish better.
8. HOPE AND PRAY! |

It will be a combination of both I have found raising the temp does not kill whitespot but it does spped up the lifecycle meaning less treatment is required to kill the parasite. |

I appear to be having problems with white spot too, I had 2 fish for 2 and a half years and they got it and died, i've bought 4 small fantails and they all appear ill, one of them is getting more white spots even though there is treatment in the water and has a white bit on its mouth! Does TCP really work? |

The ich cycle cannot complete at higher temps, that's why you are advised to increase them! It does not kill the whitespot but stops them reproducing. |

i found tcp to work, but mind how much u put in!!! and like we said take the black filters out as black filters are meant to absorb chemicals!
One thing ive learned with whitespot is that depending on what fish u got together in a tank, some fish are carriers of whitespot while they never get ill!
But as Adele said, raising your temp as high as ur fish can bare it is the ONLY TRUE solution as the parasite cant survive in hot water. |
