I have a good filter with vortex. 2200 gallons.
What size pump and uv do you suggest.
should I add a Bio start to the new water? |

Ideally you should have a pump that will turn over the water every two hours. i.e. 1100 galls/hour. If you have sharp bends on your pipe work you must take this into the factor as bends will reduce the flow rate. I would use a 30 watt UV this is slightly over size but it will be better. Bio start will be good to use if you have fish in the pond, there is no point using it before getting any fish. in the early stages check the water conditions every 2-3 days for ammonia or nitrite in the water using a test kit as the fish will suffer if allowed to get too high. |

i agrre with s.canis.
i have a 1750 gallon pond and it has a 30 watt uv and the pond is crystal clear (its also shaded). i would not bother Bio start as your not ment to introduce fish untill 4 - 6 weeks. |

if the reading is high a 30% water change is needed then further water changes of about 10% daily. You can get rid of ammonia quickly but watch out for the nitrite as this will linger for ages upto 6-8 weeks depending on your system. |
