TCP???? thats got to sting?

ok if you do have white spot (im assuming you've looked it up on the net and made certain) then all you need is the correct type of salt (i always forget which) and add a teaspoon for every 5 gals of water you have. then up the temp from 76 to 79-80 this will encourage the spot to hatch and then the salt can kill it off

Danny, you know more than me in general, BUT, are you sure about your formula for salt, 1 teaspoon for 5 gallons (22.5 litres) is quite low???

Also, Milo, I have researched white spot a bit on net, and the difference between 80F and 82F can be significant, and if your fish can stand it (which they should) you could go to 84F. I read that at 82F the parasite has a life cycle of 12 hours, which means if you have the right stuff in there (meds and / or salt) the parasites will begin to die after 12 hours as they would have all hatched and the parasite can ONLY be killed once its hatched, therefore a higher temp may make the fish slightly uncomfortable (and always make sure you have lots of surface movement) as the oxygen available for the fish depletes, especially if you go to 84F, BUT it will kill the parasite quicker which is in the best interests of the fish obviously

depending on your fish, you can go as high as a 3% salt concentration (built up gradually), 3% equates to roughly 3 grams of salt per litre, I believe a teaspoon holds 5 grams????? I would not recommend this much salt for sensitive fish, but I have had guppies and platies live through a week of 3% without any deaths (and this includes in the weeks following)

rather than puttin salt in the tank milo give them a salt bath for no more than 15mins the theory behind it is that the salt concentration will upset n kill the parasite before upsetin ur fish i would syphon some of your tank water out n add 1 teaspoon per litre. i would also do a lrg wc when the fish look like they have rid themselves of spot as this may help to remove any of the free swimming parasites before they can attach them selves.

Sounds about right don't increase the temp to much though as you are talking goldfish not tropical.
