My red empress cichlids are breeding as i type this. they are wild caught, the male is stunning, and full size adult fish - looking forward to more babies in a few weeks ...

My malawi and tanganyikan 6ft aquarium is looking superb. I have loads of rocks for the babies. I curently have some nice leleupi babies, some brichardi, red empress from a previous brood, venustus and loads of pink peacocks - all babies, living with adult fish.
The adult fish in the tank just seem to leave the babies alone. I have a real population explosion coming soon.
Great hobby eh |

hi there, i have lots of home bred babies in my tank, and like yours the adults just don't seem to bother with them, i'm sure they would make a tasty snack for some one |

This is my biggest fish he is about 6 inches long he's a playdead cichlid he's supposed to be really aggressive but no signs of that yet, probably get a nasty surprise one day.

yep it is a Livinstoni also known as the sleeper or playdead, coz he lays on the bottom pretending to be dead and when a small fish swims past he eats them. I love this fish he's dead impressive. We got him a mate at the same time, they were both the same size, but he grew massive and the other one stayed tiny, might have something to do with the fact that this one eats a whole block of frozen food in one mouthful |
