I have quite a good background in marines, but have no real experience with anemones, I have just bought a bubble anemone and was wondering if anyone knows anything specific that can help with their care. My new addition semms to be healthy enough, but takes a wander to a new home every night, I'm guessing that it's just trying to find a location that it's comfertable with, but it's a bit of a worry when you get up in the morning and it's wedged between my deltec mc500 intank skimmer and the surrounding rock work, this is the first time that it has ended up in an undesireable position. ie minimum water movement, no light reaching it. If this happens, do I dismantle the reef and fish it out or leave it as it may move again the following night ??

hi there, I wouldn't worry about it shifting around, like you said it is trying to find a spot that it likes and when it does it will settle down, they do sometimes go into places that aren't suitable, but in my experience it will come out again when it realises that its not a good place to be. If it does stay there however for longer than a week or so then you may have to take out a few rock and move it yourself. We had a sand anenome and when we first put him in out tank he shifted around for about 2 weeks, every morning he would be somewhere different, and he also went in behind the rocks where there was no light, but he did come out again after a few days, now he has himself wedged between 2 rocks and seems quite happy, you just really need to keep an eye on him. We feed our every few days with cockles or muscles. Hope this helps

i have4 a carpet anemone mine did the same thing it hid under acave like structure that i made from live rock , these are not stupid creatures , they make thier own food (algae) inside and can last along time without being fed prawns mussels ect , in my anemone i have a large pair of maroons and they keep him well fed , when i put prawns in they pick them up and put them in the mouth of the anemone and it looks really healthy ive had it for about 5-6months , when it needs the light it comes out for a while, the only thing to watch out for is powerheads and outlets , but as long as you have mh or at least t5s i wouldnt worry , does it have any clowns?

Yeah, I've got two clowns, but they are ignoring it. I'm wondering as the tank is so quiet that they don't feel the need for the safety of the anemone.
