i bet it stinks did you scrub all the rocks off ??
and sometimes you get stuff you dont want in your aquarium there are alot of crabs which are venomous if its uncured and good quality it should take around two weeks to cure with some good water changes as for the colour purple that takes a few mnths onwards |

Yeah I agree with the others, I suspect that it hasn't finished curing yet, smell the rock as it'll stink while there is stuff dying on it.
Remember to check the nitrate levels as once the rock has cured, they should start to fall over time.
As for critters, just wait and see, over a month or so, you may start to see some little white worms extending their bodys out of the rock and searching for food, also you may see some white threads coming from the rock and seeming to sit in the water, this is the way they feed and when they have caught some food they will withdraw the thread and feed. You may start to see some small calcium tubes forming which could be a small veriety of tube worm, If you see some yellow patches you've got some sponges, plus loads more, in fact you'll probably never stop finding new stuff.
The only thing that troubles me a little, is that if you put uncured live rock into a new tank, you'll get loads of die back from the stuff that's died in transit, and then loads of die back from the stuff that can't handle the awful water quality, it would have been good if your dealer could have given you some old filter medium from one of his tanks to help kick start the bacteria process.
a couple of years ago, I got a free clavularia from a piece of live rock that appeared after about three months, just one tiny polyp, but over time I had a piece the same size that you see in the shops. |

Give it a bit of time craig dont rush things and when its cured kalk the water use decent lighting and it will start to happen ,the venomous crab thing i doubt it ,i had hundreds of the shore crabs that came off mine no problems. |
