I am currently running a fresh water setup, compised of a Juwel 5'*2*2 and Juwel internal filter, and i have added an Ehiem 2128-85 FW/marine external filter.Would these be good enough to change to marine at a later stage,or would i have to change to a different type of filter, also would i have to start fresh with the filter media etc?Lastly, the tank lid would need to be modified or changed to a more suitable type for housing lights etc, could the Juwel lid be modified or would i have to obtain a new lid?Is there anything else i would need to consider, buy or change? Thanks in advance.

yes you will need to by new filter pads and maturing fluid noramly bout £3 the filters should be fine. the lid depends on what you want to keep .. if it currently hold t8s then this is ok for a marine fish only system but if you wish to have corals and anemones then yes you will be able to get away with t5s but metal hidade is better

what do you have in your tank lid now .. are they quiet thick tubes

t8 - quiet thick less out put can be used for fish only systems (marine)

t5 - much thinner tube gives out brighter spectrum can be used with corals and anmones but not the best light for corals or anemones

Metal H

good for any system .. massive output , get quiet hot good for corals or anemones

is you are wanting a like reef setup go for metal h or if you want fish and few corals go 4 t5
or if u just want fish go for t8

that is the simplest way i can put it not sure if it will help you thou

Cheers Tommy,i have two four foot tubes, but i was wondering if the T5'S & T8'S would still fit into my existing tube holders,i know the Halides are suspended higher up i think, and they require a different setup,am i right there?
