How long should lights be on in a fish tank for throughout the day? My LFS has told me no more than 8 hours.....Is that about right? Just now it's from 7am 'till 10pm. |

telboy, what you mean season, breeding etc? Is that for hard to breed fish? All my fish breed, i turn my lots on and off at all kinds of time, and you seen my Rio 180 on here, plants are unblievably healthy etc, sometimes i have my lights on for about 16 hours and sometimes i dont even turn them on all day, that goes for all my tanks, its not my plan it depends on what i am doing etc |

Depends on the lunar cycle where the fish come from and whether or not you keep plants.
Not really that bigger problem I just turn the lights on when I get up around 6 and then turn em off when I go to bed around 10 or 11. Marine is on a timer though although I have a tendency to over ride it in the mornings so it gets about a 14 hour photoperiod. |
