ive had no joy but to be fair i didnt have a proper crack at it1 only buying two sevs and they being notoriously hard to sex i didnt get lucky. theres certainly a lot more to it that tank size and body size. a low ph will be essential i would think. and probably 6 fish from diffrent sources.

i currently have 4 rocketeil severums at about 5 inch and 4 normal greens at 4 inch if this helps.i have never heard of the ph having to be low to breed them but i might be wrong danny.

Got golds breeding in my american cichlid community tank. They are about 6 inch and have bred regularly for the last 6 months. They get the fry to free swimming stage and are great parents but the fry get picked off.My rotkeil are doing everything but spawning, may have to split them and re introduce after a couple of days.

Rocko, most obvious way of sexing all the different severum types is that the males have scribble like markings over their face and gill covers, females are generally clear of markings. They are in a 48x12x15 community with sajica, multispinosa and nicaraguense hence no surviving fry.
