this is my oscars laying eggs.
they do this every 2-3 weeks it takes about a week to get to free swimming stage and then i start to lose them as i have not had anywhere to put the fry.
at the moment i have about 100 wrigglers that should be free swimming tomorrow and i am going to put them in a tank on their own.

Cracking fish jigga .A lot of people and books say how easy it is to breed oscars but you rarely see it. |

i think breeding is quite easy it is getting a pair which is hard. i was lucky when i was first interested in oscars these 2 were in my lfs. they were bought back by someone who had bought 4 and these 2 paired off and attacked everything. i was warned that they were particularly aggressive but i have them in with other fish no problem.
i got them at about 4" over 2 years ago now. |

I had 4 in a 6x2x2 but they never paired off ,they showed the usual signs but nothing happened so i sold them to a chinese restaraunt .I used to keep tropicals years ago now i am looking into rays oscars and texas chiclids ,i am in limbo at the moment due to a house move its hard to make your mind up but after seeing fso ray i think i have been swayed . |
