What was the make of the old cooler. We have had two Aqua-medic units go a bit daft in last six months, overheated the 6x2x2 tank cooking everything. |

DR the compressors prob need gas R407c cost you about £70 per chiller ,if its empty will prob act like a heat pump. |

DR yes it was it just burnt it self out . if they run out of gas they genrally shut them selfs down on a presure switch or over heat stat. |

I think I will stick with a big fan aimed at the waters surface! Keeps my tank below 27 deg C on the really hot days that is sufficient to protect the livestock and I insure the temp comes down over night by cooling the whole house by opening my back door and one window up stairs causes a missive draft through the house as the hot air goes straight out the window makes the summers barable to. |

The tank was a cold water setup with native species of inverts and fish from our coastline. Temp is normally at 15oC. The Aqua-med chillers were quite new under warranty with fans cooling them.
Perhaps a brewing chiller is more apt |

Only problem with beer coolers is they are not very accurate. With a decent aquarium one you can set to the nearest degree exactly what you want. I sell some with titanium heat exchangers built in too so will heat in the winter. email me if you want prices (delivered with free p&p takes bout 5 to 7 days) |
