Sounds like you'll have to start it the old fashioned way and suck at the end of the outlet pipe til it flows for itself |

The suction stick on my 404 never bleeding works! I have to take the pipe off the spray bar and suck to get the syphon working and then reconnect it. |

maybe i should just get a new filter which can handle it ,,i mean the tater has a fair way to travel beofre hitting the tank so maybe a bigger more powerfull filter will work .. what do you recon ?? |

If it was working fine before, why change? How bigs your tank and is the 104 the only filter? |

i have a trigon 350 wiv the juwel internal and then the 104 .. but to be onest i reckon the 104 struggles to get to water back to the tank becuase of the long piping and it is vertical |

Think you're right my friend, you're asking that little filter to do a lot of work. Is the internal not doing the job or was the canister just for extra water movement? |

the internal in my mind is doin the job but people say in order to keep corals then i need to have a external .. i mean the internal dose over 1000l/p hour so i cnt see y it dose need the exta .. maybe i shud do away withe in externall all 2gether and buy 2 powerheads |

Powerheads a darned good way of creating turnover. Not a marine keeper but understand your live rock is supposed to do the biological filtration and the internal would do the mechanical. Why the need for the canister? Put the powerheads in opposite corners on timers and you can change the direction of flow over your corals like tide change |

ye i spose so this is all very confusing so ill stick to that i dea with the powerheads i mean my tank is full o flive rock so plenty of bio filtration and y internal shoulbd be able to do the mechanical
well thanks alot for you help |

No worries tommy, hopefully alan or DR will pick this up in the morning and then you'll get some top drawer advice. |

what gos up must come down, and reverse. If it sucking it out of the tank then gravity is helping it. If the inlet & outlet heights are the same it makes virtually no difference if its a foot or 3 foot. I would just give the filter media a good rinse out in some tank water (to save the bacteria) and prime it the old fashioned way... a good old suck lol... suck the outlet & let it pump into a bucket for a few secs then just connect it back up. Works every time. If still no good then your impellor may be knobbed. |
