Hi all
My Biostar Flotor has recently started to cut in and out - sometimes taking 10-20 mins to start up again. I have only had it a few weeks (E-bay!). Is this normal or not (I'm thinking the latter!) The pump is fully submerged.
Many thanks in advance

Hi and thanks for the reply.
The pump is now working - I have the air valve half closed as opposed to fully open and it's been running for the lastfew hours. Is this right - should the valve not be fully open?

Thanks Tommy.
The skimmer is still producing foam just not as aggressively as before. I think best just to leave alone whilst working!
(New to this, can you tell?!!!)

Skimmers need fine tuning I suspect with the valve fully open the pump was occasionally just sucking air and no water you have to maintain a consistant flow within skimmer otherwise they will loose efficiency it is normal to have the valve on any skimmer not fully open it is abnormal to have it fully open.
The skimmate should be of a similar appearance to a weak black tea. The colour will not be exactly the same but it will give you an idea. |

Many thanks to you both.
I have now managed to get the skimmer to work constantly by doing just what you advised Alan.
Thanks again!
