a sting ray is not possible to live in a 12" tank no marine setup really should go in this size tank unless its a nano |

maybe others will advise, am pretty sure you will need a bigger tank for marine, from the threads i seen you need all kinds of gear, live rock, protein skimmers, the actual salt, halides, why dont you just get one those "finding nemo" type things??? But i think they need anoemones or what ever they are, look like octopus without the tentacles. Your bound to get the advice. |

LOL ere hijacker why dont you get 6 guppies and put them in an egg cup never know that might breed better. |
23-05-2006 17:58 by hijacker
|
giles and p.s your moking offendeds me and i know great white only live in the sea! so i'd probably not get one of them. and guppies in a egg cup maybe! or a coffee mug! could be hi-jackers guild to guppy breeding. |

How about this tank, you could probably get away with a nurse shark and a leopard moray if you can afford them, just make sure the skimmer's up to the job.

If you want to know about freshwater stingrays look at this link.

Forget marine rays you will not have a big enough tank ever. Unless you own a public aquarium.
As far as nano reefs these are a doddle just follow the rules of marine keeping.
You will need a small tank this is anything under 30 gallons I wouldn't go below ten gallons though.
Lighting T5's should be sufficient.
Desk fan for cooling
Heater
Live rock equal to 1 kilo for every 2 gallons capacity of the tank so a ten gallon tank would need 5 kilos of live rock.
Skimmer an air driven one should suffice or alternatively the tunze nano would be good.
Then it is a case of careful stocking neon gobies are good as well as cleaner shrimp basically nothing that gets to big I would consider a 30 gallon tank as a minimum size for clown fish though.
Also you need good salt either reef crystals or TMC pro reef.
Test kits go for salifert.
Refractometer to measure salinity.
And power heads that can turn over the total tank volume at least 20 times an hour.
Also a source of RO water and a good book and 6 months of reading and planning before buying a single thing. |

If you've never kept fish before try a freshwater set up first with a few hardy fish till you've gained some experience and learned how to control your water parameters, making a few mistakes with platies is going to much kinder on your pocket than making mistakes with stingray's not too mention kinder to the fish |
