You need to adjust the little lever/dial thingy right back so theres less flow going through the skimmer, if you dont have much in the tank it isnt going to skim very much at all. |

if it is filling with water it needs to be turned down. You will get used to it after a while and find you correct position |

I had same isues at first, you will soon get the hang of it. But if you dont have much livestock yet it wont skim much, I suggest until then turn the skimmer on once a day to skim.
Turn the air valve off and the water valve a quarter turn on. Turn skimmer on. then after say 40 seconds when the water level has settled in the skimmer turn the air valve on, keep turning until u can no longer hear the air entering the skimmer, then back the air valve off quarter turn. You should get foam after about 2-3 mins maybe longer depending whats in ya tank. And there is something to skim.
Once thats ok just check it every now and then, u should not get much water in the cup just foam, once the foam stops bubbling you can turn off. Then next time you turn on you should not have to adjust anything just let it skim until foam has gone again.
I have a 120 gallon tank and found this skimmer to easily skim it within 2 hours after that there was nothing there, eventually I just left the skimmer running as I was able to set it up without water loss. However the key is you need livestock to get it to skim.
You can test the skimmer by putting food in the tank waiting a few mins then skim, it should foam pretty quick as the food reaches the skimmer.
Damm thats a long *** explanation! |
