They will be north american signals which are taking over this countries water ways. You'll prob be able to get them from a river lake near you but this is not allowed plus forget about putting them in a pond unless the water is perfect as they will just get out and into any local waters then wiping out our native species with disease. I get them from a friend trout farm.

Why do you want them?

you would need to contact defra and obtain a liscence to keep any cold water crayfish

The signals are upto 10" or so-look them up! You wont ever see the native ones.

I even bought crays from a maidenhead shop years ago. Dont think its anything to do with Defra but know you SHOULD gain permission from the EA to trap them.

Saying that all the fishing mags talk about catching them for bait/ food so cant be not allowed.

it is not allowed to keep them unless you are liscenced as you may transfer them into unihabited waters thus helping the spread of this invading crayfish
catching for food or population control is not the same as catching to keep them in a tank or pond for a start you need to think about transferal of parasites and disease
