My RO water is testing at 10ppm for nitrate, I'm obviously off to a loser straight away.
What is a normal reading for nitrate in RO ?? |

Hello, try using a different test kit, they are not always accurate. |

Have no idea what pressure, it has three stages, particulate removal, carbon, and membrane.
I think first I'll try a different test kit. How do you test for TDS. I take it this is total dissolved solids. |

hi,get yourself a 6 stage RO-MAN,a spare 1 liter DI resin,and you'll never look back. |

two different fish stores have told me that you always get small nitrate even in RO water, perhaps 10-20ppm, i take it from yur post then that 0.00 is expected from RO??? |

An RO uint combind with a DI unit,is the best you can get,if kept in check,TDS will always be zero.some nirate kits can give false readings on RO water ?.I've never had any reading out of my RO-MAN. |

An Ro unit alone will not remove all nitrate hence the best units for marine consisting of multiple stages the last being a DI resin to remove any remaining impurities thats why I went for a 6 stage RO unit.
Incidentally if you are on a live rock based system or ecosystem method a 10 ppm reading for nitrate will not be detrimental as the system will consume it very quickly.
Also as sprayer1 says testing RO water is not easy as false readings are common with RO water. |

Well I've ordered a TDS meter, that should be interesting.
What a great shop though, cheapest RO units I've seen, plus all the different fittings to go with them. |
