In the jan/feb issue of marine world ( issue 27 ), Tristan Lougher advises that our tanks be kept at 23 to 24 C.
Average temperatures in the Red sea range from 22C in january to 25C in august.
The caribbean at the moment is at an average of 30C, and Coral bleaching events are becoming increasingly recorded.
I keep my tank between 24C in the morning to 25C when the lights go off with this simple desk fan.
It's worth adding that a lot of the temperature problems in a marine tank are caused by the pumps we use, locating the pumps outside of the tank, reduces the amount of heat the pumps put into the water. Next time you add or change a pump, why not go to a closed loop design ?

Closed loop, pumps for water movement on the outside of the tank, and most of the heat generated is lost to the room, not the water.
