90% this problem is related to your water conditions in the tank. this is one of the early signs that your fish is suffering in its water.
can i ask what tank maintenance you do on the tank? then we can see if theres some way we can improve it. that will be the first step in solving the problem then once the water is in bettter condition someone else will be able to advise the correct medication to fix the eye. |

Hi thank's. We have only had the juwel tank about 4/5 weeks .but we have only about a dozen assorted tetra's and three small catfish in it.Prob my fault by not leaving it to cycle enough before putting the fish in. As for the water the first fill up we declorinated it that's it. before the fish went in we added stress syme and stress coat. we had the water checked when we went to buy the fish and everything was ok. prob ammonia is a bit high but do you suggest us buying our own test kit and checking the levels every week. Hope this helps.

ok jeff well as i thought, your problem is 100% the water quality.
its always worth having a test kit at home. try to buy one that tests as much as possible and stay away from the strips.
what i would suggest you do is a 30% water change right now. make sure you treat the water as you did before as thats essential. (_the chlorine in tap water will kill the helpful bacteria in your filter and without that bacteria the ammonia wont convert to less harmful toxins.)
id also suggest you dont add any more fish for 3-4 weeks and to carry out a 20% water change twice a week for those 3-4 weeks. this will help your fish in a BIG way and will keep the ammonia to a minimum. then i reckon after that period your tank will be pretty much cycled and at that point you only need to carry out a 30% water change once a week (at the very least every fortnight)
you'll notice a marked improvement in the fishes activity too after the water changes.

will be worth keeping an eye on the feeding too, any uneaten food will cause ammonia levels to rise even higher, i would feed maybe a very small amount or every other day just till you get settled |
