right can anyone help!i have 6 blue acaras in my tank plus a couple of large angels and catfish.2 different females have laid eggs but both of these have been eaten/fungus.Before you say it i have six so that i could get a breeding pair but im not sure if i have as a (male i think) swam over them and seemed to " do his thing" and then protected them but no babies have appered.Could this be a female ?I saw the 2 females laying(at different times and this male swan over the eggs shaking but thats it.Im confused and i just want to get a pair sorted out.

Could be down to water conditions or the fish just being too young
How old are they, give us an idea of your water conditions, nitrite, nitrate, amonia, etc
also test your ph

Blue acara's are quit hard to sex, it is certainly possible that your 'Male' is a female.

It is also possible they are young and not sure what to do.

It is a lso possible that your pH is too high, while blue acara's can breed in hard water, very hard water (or very soft water) should be avoided a pH of 7 would be ideal.

The ph is 7.5and all other conditions are fine.I also do 1/4 tank water change per week.I will try to get a pic up as soon as they lay some more eggs which im sure will be soon again lol.p.s. the fish are about 2.5 inches to 3 inches long and about 6 months old i think.

You have six Oscars and and a couple of other fish. Well first of what is the size of the tank. The second thing is if it is under 55 gallons you are screwed it wont work you wont get any babbies. i reomend you get rid of 4 of your Oscars and just keep 2 if your tank is no bigger than a 55 gallon.
