air pumps for the pond |

two questions what is folks thoughts on air pumps for the pond r they a gud idea or not really necessary and the other question i have netting over my pond is it safe to kep this off or shud i keep it on ie im scared incase koi jump out and if predators arrive on the other hand it looks unsightly thanx for all your thoughts

pumps for oxygen yes .i use tailors/shop dummies heads on brushshanks round my pond it works great to keep the herons n gulls off and they scare the bairns |

1) i would get an air pump as i keeps the water oxygenated and helps with health/growth.
2) i would keep the netting if i was you i would you and remove it when you have people coming round.
i had the dummys herons but still 2 of my 12inch koi went wondering into a herons mounths.
i also saw a real heron attcking my plastic one under a pergola with another real heron watching it about 50 ft away (i almost hit that one with a broom handle that somehow flew out my hand) |

for £80 or so you could get a electric fence for the pond...............cooked heron for dinner ??? |

lol sounds nice cooked heron lol hope rspb rnt reading lmao on the idea of air pumps which powered one ie 45 litres etc my ponds 1500 gallon

i use a mesh of fishing line in about 6" squares, it keeps the herrons of and its hardly noticible
