Posted Suggestions for appeasing an annoyed wife.

I have made a minor indiscretion with my finances my over draft was going quite well I had got it down to £500 but sadly in the last couple of months it has sky rocketed to £1598.

My wife knows she is livid as one would expect and I am going to have all my cards confiscated and I'm going to get an allowance of £50 a month no I'm not joking either.

I need suggestions on how to calm and relax my wife I think she may throw me down the stairs tonight! Not really but she is reallly angry.

Any suggestions welcome providing they cost nothing.

Wish me luck.

let her cool down, the more you talk to her the more likely she is to drown you in your tank

makes a change a man getting blamed for spending all the money, dont think there was much would calm me down if I was angry with my other half, maybe try just leaving her to calm down before talking, other than that good luck, Im sure you will need it.

I agree just let her cool down, leave her alone for as long as she needs, and don't antonginise her. I know how she feels, i have been there myself. Although she may feel like chopping you into small pieces and feeding you to the fish i doubt she will

just quilt trip her and say you cant afford to run your tank on 50 quid and your gonna have to get rid hopefully that should work but make sure you work the magic hard enough so it dont back fire

that wont work dave, you have to remember that us women are a lot more intelligent than yous, guilt tripping would most probaly serve to make her angrier.

Just being nice and honest is the best thing, and leaving her be but not ignoring her.

I'm doomed!

I shall just go home and face the music I thinkI don't know how I did it though I am appalling with money.

At least I won't be able to do it again I don't think I will ever get my cards back again! To be honest I don't have a problem with that I can't be trusted with my spending its the grief I'm going to get I can't stand it the stick I will get for weeks the shouting 'how the hell have you managed it, AGAIN?'

It must be remebered this isn't the first time I have done it this is about the 5th time I think she is going to verbally b*tch slap me to bangkok, urghhh my ears are going to be seriously hurting.

Fortunately I get a big bonus at the end of this month plus a nice pay rise so I should be able to clear it quickly but what really is the best way to appease a really peeved woman.

Get a divorce????

Trust me she's getting off on making you feel bad, just let her get it all out her system and agree with everything she says. Won't last forever, there'll soon be something else she can have a go at you about instead.

Behave danny boy and von, nikki if I wanted a divorce I wouldn't be bothered about trying to sort this!

But I love my wife and I'm sick of letting her down like this but any way I guess I'm going to get some verbal abuse and it is well deserved, its odd though I can advise people about budgeting and taxation all day and I give out pretty good advice on the whole but I can't follow it myself it does my head in.

Alan, let her fume for a day or two then grovel, grovel and grovel a bit more. At the end of the day if you love each other money is not so important is it.

Divorce suggestion was only a joke Alan. Von is right it's only money count yourself lucky you are in a loving marriage, plenty of people aren't.

I ran up a credit card bill of 3500 setting up my marine tank, and the bride opened my card statement "by mistake"
She was a tad miffed but she got over it,after about three weeks, during which time i built up quite a strong right fore-arm

I know my debt ain't big its just my wife is exceptionally good with money I mean how many students come out of Uni with no debt? None except my wife she is so good with money it is disturbing.

Planning budgets is easy by the way all you do is sit down and realistically work out all of your out goings according to bank statements and credit cards calculate the money you waste, my wife did last night, £1000 on nothing in 3 months she kept saying. The trick is to shock yourself into realising how bad your spending habits are thing is I know how bad my spending habits are and compared to how I used to be I'm an angel now. SO a £1500 overdraft just doesn't scare me.

After scaring yourself you work out a realistic budget that can be stuck to and the max you can spend on clearing debts its also a case of prioritising debts if you have mortgage arrears obviously this must take priority and whilst clearing the mortgage debt even consider paying the minimum on the credit cards until the mortgage is up to date. Once the mortgage is sorted then tackle the highest interesxt problems such as credit cards then over drafts anfd then hopefully you are sorted.

The other option is to get a consolidation loan these make the debt managable but often mean in the long run paying more but make your monthly out goings lower its all down to whether or not the current lendors are demanding payment that is way beyond your means the other thing to do is get your credit card companies to block use of all your cards bar one which is for emergencies only say your boiler packs in or something like that. Then it is a case of time.

Buying a puppy would be a bad idea especially when you consider the last time I went spending I bought another cat we now have 3 she was livid when I turned up wuith another cat she loves the cat to bits but was miffed with me for a month and still brings it up 2 years since I bought the little blighter.

Incidentally with my wife in control of my spending I should be able to clear £500 a month so that ain't bad going at all thank god for my pay rise and bonus this month. I wish I was on commision though I brought in £16 million in additional revenue last year even half a percent in bonus would be nice. I could do with £80 grand but no I am a measly civil servant so we don't get commision. At least last year I covered my salary for the next 592 years. I think thats a pretty good deal for the government. Thats enoughb of being called a whitehall waster I think.
