dont be upset mannings ...only this weekend i went to local fish shop who had a large fish (snake head?) almost dead srom a salvo of bites from 2 baby oscar's ! shop was upset as the fish was expencive so it even happens to the professionals

Me thinks arowana should be kept alone

Mannings do some research on your fish ..........mixing fish can cause so much problems!

what you want 2 arowana's for ?

Mannings!!
my wife tells me that in her home country in Asia, Arowana are known to be kept singlely !!!
there you have it you have been told!!!
Seriously mannings this is true!

I would be careful with that mix, as the growth rate of your arrow should be very rapid, while your tiger fish will grow much more slowly, so while they will mix for a while, you may well have problems in a month or so. I feel while the ghost knoife might be ok, the datanoid will have him eventually.

If you do go for a siamese tiger ensure you get a freshwater species like microlepis and not a brackish species.

Best advice is to grow your arrowana on to 12" and then start looking for tankmates.

Your discus will be fine with this small arowana take a look at

http://www.freshwaterstingray.nl/Frames%20Engels/English.html

I'm pretty sure there is a picky on here of a large jardini mixed with stingrays and a shoal of discus it can work.

Robert the arows in asia are jardini these are more aggressive than the silver arow from the amazon those from asia also cost a small fortune as the have to be cites registered and micro chipped to prove the are from a fish farm and not the wild. This is not the case for arows from the amazon.

jardini come from Australia Alan, they are relatively cheap because they are not covered by CITES.
The one in the pic is a Scleropages Formosus, they are the expensive ones.
I'd keep the arow in with the Discus Mannings & get it feeding on mealworms. Its will soon put some size on & be ready to go back in with the acara for a re match in next to no time

alan - i know its not your tank. but thats an amazing pic, wish i had that as my background on desktop - the only thing they need is substrate, dont get this "bare" tanks, these peeps need educating alan

Bare bottom is down to the ray it makes keeping pristine water conditions far easier as you do not get a detritus build up so easily on a bare bottom.

Considering the keeper of these fish breeds rays P14 amongst others I would say it is the rest of us that need educating chromis124.

Apologise for the boo boo on name that was quite a boo boo.

Mannings I wouldn't bother with another arow until you can give it the sort of set up it really needs youngster are not very tough so consider going for one that is at least 10" long.
