The only question i have for you as expert here on clowns... iv got one thats slightly smaller that i got free with a tank i bought off ebay.. its still bout 4 Inches but just hides all day andall night... iv got a piece of bog wood thats gt a crack running all the way through. all my cats and stuff hide in there... but thats in there too and never comes out. Do you think he may join the group or is it a loaner? iv bin worried bout it for a while cos never seen it feed or anything. clown loach lady... im putting up the loach sign in the sky (like the bat sign. come to my rescue he he he h eh eh
(p.s. thanks everyone... im not insane... just happy. |

mickyblue, you have made me a happy woman!!!!
It might take time for him to come out of his shell "so to speak", but if your bogwood has a crack in it, depending on the size of the crack i would personally keep an eye on the wood, for the simple reason that a few years ago one of my big loaches decide to hide in it, but he got stressed and got stuck in the wood. You know they got the spines on either side of their mouth that they shoot out when they are stressed. It took me ages to rescue this fish, so moral of story please keep an eye on him so he doesnt get stuck.
But he should come out at a later date, just give him a bit of chance... Giving them bloodworm might improve his chances for coming out????? |

thanks for the help... the bogwood is quite large... i have had a few problems with the loach getting stuck in another piecwe of bogwood... there was him, and two cats... they were truley stuck in tight... i tried everything and then i decided to see what the problem was with a tourch... when the light shone on them they did really tug and managed to become unstuck... i was afraid to try and pull them out... i know they are such delicate fish... but iv just got back from the gym and low and behold they were all in a small shoawl all 6 of em... maybehe finally has seen that its not such a bad place out in the big open tank. thanks for your words of wisdom ow lady of clown loaches. |

depending on the size of the loaches you buy i dont see why not. its quite a bigish tank if i can remember correctly. te good thing bout clown loaches is they live for years and years unlike many of todays cheap tropical fish. it can take years for them to get to any significant size so as long as you dont go too over board you can buy a few.. just so long as you put plenty of hiding places. and if i were you id buy at least two if not more... they are so much more interesting in groups. they get their confidence and away they go. also just remember they do like good quality water.. because they have no scales (I THINK THATS RIGHT) they are very sensitive and you will loose them if you dont keep on top of your maintainence. hope thats everything i need to mention. if not and your still worried and if the C.L.L doesnt read this then post another topic on and im sure she will assist you further |
