Hi chromis123,
I've got a pair of Juli Transcriptus Gombi, they live & prolifically breed in a conch shell in a 48x18x18 tank they live with 7 Tropheus, 2 Nigripinnis, 2 Leptosomas an Eretmodus Cyanostictus (Goby), 3 Black Calvus and a brood of Aulonocara Baenchi fry we're growing on.
Julies like hard water and tank mates should ideally be from Lake Tanganyika (though the Aulonocara are Malawi's)
If your not sure which type of Julies you've got try doing a google image search. |

had a pair of marlieri in with brichardi and frontosa. Used to breed in a cave under the rock work. I lost the male and had all sorts of bother trying to get her to pair up again, had to introduce a bunch of males in one go as she killed them when introduced individually. They were good parents and tough enough to stand up to the brichardi. Good luck with them. |

I had some marlieri and >lamp< birchardi that bred in harmony shared guard duty and the babies behaved as one big shoal mixing well the babies did recognise they were different species and didnt try to hybridise as adults I've yet to find an explanationas to exactly what made them choose this strategy normally they are incredibly nasty to each other when breeding, the both had seperate caves in which they spawned about four inch away from each other but they never bothered each other at all indeed they interacted quite well !!!!! |
