I have reef set up in a two and a half foot tank right now.I'm hoping to move it to my 4ft Juwel tank. I'm not sure about what I will need to set this up. As I have only had my set up for 6 months. I need to know basically what I need ie, What kind of lights as I'm keeping corals and what other equipment I'll need to move them into the bigger tank. As I know its going to be expensive and I'm not wanting to throw good money after bad! I hope someone in here can try to give me some advice, Thanks lulu
go for the best kit your pocket can afford. dont buy cheap cheap as you will have problems further down the line .as for lighting look at a 3ft 2 lamp halide 150w / 250w 14k.
well you will need some more live rock for a start and as trik says some halides, also if you are going to use a skimmer you will need one thats up for the job also some powerheads for circulation thats just the basics mind you
Hi I have just set up my first marine tank as I have wanted one for ages and finally after hard work and saving I have got one and have had it up and running for the passed 2 months! I have the following:
Jewel Rio 240 tank and stand drilled with custom built 80l algae sump, aquamedic sun cover kit with 2 54W bulbs, pump for circulation, 20kg rock, 2 bags of sand, mud and algae for sump, salt, heater/stat, hydrometer and test kits, electric thermometer, mag-float cleaner all built with back painted, delivered and set up all for £1000!
I currently have 2 clown fish, 5 chromis, fire fish, cleaner shrimp and a few hermits and turbo snails! I added a regal tang two weeks ago and now have white spot! Not happy at all! So I now need to get a UV sterilizer on the weekend as I need to try and get rid of it! I have tried all sorts of things but nothing seems to work! Unfortunately I have had to get rid of the Regal tang!!!!!!
Its worth spending the money on a good system, well so I'm told!! Good luck
