Hello Penny, there are many types of Aulonocara and unfortunately they hybridize freely, the male is colourful and the females are brownish, there are loads of hybrids around and getting an ID is not easy, sorry cant be more positive. |

Top one is easy and it is not an aulonocara it is a female Copadichromis "kadango" or a juvenile male.
These are on eof my favourite malawi's they aren't to aggressive and their breeding behaviour is interesting and again relatively peaceful a real breath of fresh air from malawi.
The other one as it is an albino I doubt you will ever identify it unless you start counting fin rays chances are it is an aulonocara as this is the most frequantly inbred and hybridised and the like.
I wouldn't recommend keeping either of these with mbuna stick with aulonocar and perhaps more kadango in fact just more kadango the males are stunning when coloured up. They have an electric blue head and a bronze coloured body witgh white edges to the dorsal and anal fins 3 females to one male would be best. |

Well its def not a juvenile its about 2yrs as we have had him or her in this tank since we started it up he's about 41/2 inches long and the albino we have had about the same, we haven't had any probs with them being in the tank though. |

In that case the top one is defo a female, and a yellow fin variety at that.
The male posted above is a red fin variety and nearing 8" and my female is only slightly smaller so yours still has some way to go.
The differences between red & yellow fin can only be seen in the females as the males are identical
