the only problem with keeping them which you can is , in the summer months your tank will get very hot, and a big i mean BIG chiller will be needed , as for the fish and inverts they can over a period of time be acclimitised to our own made salt water as we do in normal reef keeping.hth. |

ta trik but i know nowt about reef |

they should be kept the same , good water turn over good water prams the only thing you dont need is a heater. but cold water marine are very hardy , inverts live in shallow rock pools and in the summer as we all know the water reaches a very warm temp then the tide comes in and wack nice cold water. they are easier to keep. |

was diving off of swanage today round a wreck and was amazed at what we have actually got in our waters.
surely it would be very hard to keep these and dont we need a licence or somet to take things from the sea? |
06-07-2006 22:55 by sturio
|
or is it to actually sell them on ????? |
06-07-2006 22:57 by rob r
|
eric morecambe .sturio we fish the sea so i dont think theres a need for licenses except for cites things. |
06-07-2006 23:09 by sturio
|
but with things like lobster and brown crab there are size limits so we cant just take what we want |

Rob - we have a cold water setup in work. Environmental work and we monitor fish and invert species on our shores. Rock pool species are much more hardy than pelagic fish like gadoids, herring etc. We use an aqua medic cooler but been having problems keeping the water at 15oC. Third time in about a year that the temperature rises even with the cooler on 247. We're not sure if salt water will be compatible with beer chillers, but we really dont think that aqua-med coolers can cope with 15oC |
