FRY AND HEAT |

I have come to the conclusion Convict Fry (well mine at least) cannot survive if the temp is consistently 80-80F
I am having almost 90% losses after 2-3 weeks of new fry, and its not an isoloated incident
Meanwhile Krib Fry losses are less than 10% and Brichardi and Livebearer fry are pretty much ZERO

cant u buy or hire an air conditioner unit to put in the room, this will lower the temp easy no matter how many tanks u have. i have one its brilliant only cost 150 from B&Q |

intresting topic. are you conditioning the convict adults? the mother in most species will eat fry if shes had a hard time at birth, conditioning can make a big diffrence. be intresting to see if theres any diffrence at 75 deg |

not especially conditioning, what do you mean by that exactly?
i am pretty sure they are not being eaten, am losing fry that are WITH parents and fry that are in their own 18" tank
The parents that i am referring to are pro's and been together a long time.....
At first i thouht it might be disease, as some of the baby cons seem to "keel over" for a bit then die, but i AM NOT LOSING ANY OTHER FRY in the 18" tank, and that contains small brichardi, small marlieri and i even through a few tiny guppies and platies in to see what would happen, only fish DYING are the convict fry, sometimes to the tank gets to 85F
I been raising Convict fry for about 6 months, never known losses this high, water parameters same as always except higher temps |

ON A SLIGHTLY LINKED POINT i tell you what guy's Convicts maybe one of the easiest fish to breed and most prolific breeders, BUT
I have been enjoying breeding and raising fry for the following fish over last 6 months
CONVICTS, NEOLAMP BRICHARDI, JULI MARLERI, KRIBENSIS and GUPPIES, PLATTIES, MOLLIES
and Convict fry (per 10 born) are the hardest to raise (i.e. stay alive and reach 2-3 months old)
This is both WITH the parents and WITHOUT the parents,
