Can anybody give hand with identifying these cichlids. They appear to be from the same family as a green terror but they have brighter markings (orange). If anybody does know what they are do they know what there breeding habbits are as they are pairing up! |

Steve,
100% Green Terror,Aiquidens Rivulatus
Fantastic fish mate, what you got em in with and what size tank as they are quite aggressive when they pair up
If you don't take to em i'll give em a good home |

This is a pic of a wild green terror, They are many differences at the side of yours, I dont think its 100% green terror, i think lex is right, Its a hybrid of some kind!!! |

They are in a 4x2x2.5 at the moment in with other chichlids and a plec but i will transfering them into 300l and see if they breed. Does anybody know what breeding characteristics they have and what type of parents they make? |
24-07-2006 13:44 by Malawimad
|
Other cichlids? What cichlids Steve ? |
24-07-2006 13:53 by darren
|
Ther are differences between green terrors, yours are "gold saum" the real green terrors are "silver saum"
Personally i prefer the gold saum
They make excellent parents Steve and will fend off any other fish comming within range of the fry |

Nice tank Steve,
They need different water to your Africans by the way and if you keep the PH at about 7.0 they will show much better colour |

The pic with the arrowana won't load anyway.

As Darren said, definately gold saums, they will get very aggressive when they spawn, i wouldn't keep them with the africans, they will destroy those plants if that's the tank you have them in |
24-07-2006 14:04 by steve mc
|
Whats the chances of the fry making it in the big tank or do you think the other fish will have them? |
24-07-2006 14:06 by steve mc
|
That was the tank a little while back. As von commented the smaller plants haven't lasted!
|
24-07-2006 14:07 by von
|
If they have stacks of places to hide you might be lucky and save a couple but not likely. Do you have a small tank you could rear them in? |

I've got a 300l that i used for the mbu when it was a baby that i use to grow on fish before they go in the big tank |
24-07-2006 14:11 by darren
|
Your not lettin me have em then Steve |
24-07-2006 14:11 by darren
|
Just right mate |
24-07-2006 14:13 by steve mc
|
The only prob is that is running on a xp3 filter. is that going to be to much in the way of filtration. I don't want to find the fry in the filter! |
24-07-2006 14:14 by steve mc
|
Nah iam quite attached sorry mate |
24-07-2006 14:56 by von
|
Get a small internal and put a fine net over it with an elastic band or get a cheap sponge filter or 2, water changes will be really important and watch the filter doesn't get blocked if you do cover it with netting. |

Your fish are Green Terrors which used to be known and sold as Gold Saums.
