I went to the LFS last night and he has told me to feed my malawi's a segment of orange every now and then, apparantly it gives the fish much needed vitamains and enhances colouration.... fact or fiction guys? |

The only thing i can see fish would get out of that would be Carrotine, which enhances colour, but to be honest good quality foods contain this anyway

Vit C as well never really thought of it I would be interested to see his malawi's feeding on an orange segment!
My only concern would be the acidity of the fruit and its effects on water chemistry but I would pressume the orange segment is so small in relation to the volume of water it would do no harm and anyway the fish waste is acidic so why not give it a go but I would not leave it in their long. Hour at most and I would keep and eye on it. |

i have read that it's good for koi's & cold water fish, full of vitamin c so can't see why it wouldn't be good for tropical fish. |
