ive got a really good pump in my new tank it runs 2 big air stones at the min ive only got a few fish in there as im just starting up is it ok to turn my pump down a bit at night so that there is just a steady amount of bubbles? its in my bed room and the noise drives me nuts at night lol
and is it possible to have the pump up to high? |

Shouldnt really need an air pump, the filter should be able to circulate the water enough especially as u only have a few fish |

id go with keith. if the filters outlet is at the waters surface that will oxygenate the water more than enough. its not the bubbles that put air in the water its when they break the waters surface and thats when air can enter the water. so as long as the outlet of your filter is disturbing the top of the water then you dont need the pump at all |

emma, turn off the air pump at night and sleep soundly. if the pump is only running air stones, some time without them will do no harm at all.
as said, most of the oxygenation takes place at the water surface anyway. |
